Eating indulgent food, an extra long shower, a new lotion. Women often feel guilty about doing a lot of things, whether we’re watching our weight, feel bad about asking for help or just feel bad that we’re not constantly doing… It’s time to stop this nonsense!

I should have never felt this way, and especially as a pregnant gal, there’s just some things I need to do and be okay with it.
1. It’s Okay to Give in to Your Cravings
Look… you can ignore these all day long, but they’re STRONG. I’ve been lucky in that my largest craving has been fruit, but there’s been cookies and pizza in there too.
We generally eat pretty healthy, but I’ve allowed myself to be a little more indulgent and less strict on myself during this process. And it’s mostly mental! There’s so many things to stress about, eating that cookie isn’t going to make or break it.
There will be a time and place for me to get back into the shape I want to be in (and trust me, I cannot wait!!), but now is not that time. I’ve always tried to eat in a balanced way, and now is no different (okay, maybe I’ve had an extra dessert… or three).
2. It’s Okay to Sleep a Little More
At 21 weeks, books told me that I was supposed to feel a burst of energy. Round of applause for all you women that do! One of my small pleasures in life has been when I can fit in a nap.
I used to feel guilty about wasting part of the day when I could be doing something else. Now I just don’t care! You need your sleep friends, because soon you won’t be getting it.
3. It’s Okay to Ask for Things
Ask for the foot rub or the back massage, glass of water, snack… People want to help you. Don’t take advantage, but let them!
I’m stubborn (if you couldn’t guess) and keep turning it down and as I get further along, I actually need that help and that little extra pampering (my ankles are already swollen ????). Plus getting out of bed with the weird roll thing we have to do so you don’t use your abs… It’s just easier for someone else to get the glass of water!
4. It’s Okay to Not Look Perfect
I used to be paranoid about everything I wore, for fear of looking fat. Whelp, here we are and leggings with oversized sweaters are my favorite thing to wear. I also used to care a lot about what I looked like leaving the house. Down to putting on cover up so no one at my 5 a.m. gym class saw a *GASP* pimple.
Well pregnancy acne hit me like a ton of bricks. My skin has never been great, but it was managed. This is on a whole other level. And did you know that most topical products or not safe acne treatments during pregnancy? So I found a new skin care routine. I started using a locally made charcoal soap, apple cider vinegar in the morning and the Spoiled Mama’s skincare for pregnancy acne at night. The Spoiled Mama is my kind of company… Female-owned and they really care about their customers! Plus, any brand that involves spoiling right now, I’m all about (see bullet point above)! Their Pregnancy Acne Bundle features BalanC acne toner and Rehab Acne Serum. My skin still has its issues, but the new routine has made a world of difference, and if a pimple pops up for an early morning class, well who really cares now?
It’s okay if you don’t look perfect. It shouldn’t take a pregnancy to make you feel this way, but when you have a whole other tiny human in your belly, there’s some things that just don’t feel as important.
5. It’s Okay to Spoil Yourself!
This is something my girlfriend’s that have been through this love to tell me! It’s hard to spend money on yourself when you know how many expenses are about to be coming.
At 21 weeks, I have yet to buy maternity pants and keep forcing myself into my size 4 pre-maternity pants. Well, Mama finally bought her pants and let me tell you how much nicer it feels! What was the point of being so stubborn?!
And more than halfway through, I’ve also decided that nicer lotions make all the difference in the stretch and pull of your skin. The Spoiled Mama came to the rescue again on this one! I had no idea until a stranger actually told me that pregnancy skin care should start as soon as you know to help with stretch mark removal in the future. Their Tummy Butter for Stretch Marks is made with all-natural and safe ingredient and has a wonderful citrusy smell. This belly butter goes on about as smooth as butter too! If you’re more into pregnancy stretch mark oil instead their Bump Gloss is just what the doctor ordered! I’ve never used oil as a moisturizer before, but this stuff is amazing. My hands down favorite though? Indulge Body Polish. I mean, the name says it all and is more than just a stretch mark scrub. Find things to indulge in during this season of your life! Take time to exfoliate with a natural body scrub that was made for mama’s that were in need of some spoiling.

These are just five things that I’ve made time and a point to do through this pregnancy. And after this, no more excuses! It’s time we’re okay with whatever we need without feeling bad.
